Yup, I've been toying with the idea of a naked person on our walls for a while. It makes for a very modern, risque, and grown up statement. It's powerful, confident, and mature. BUT, but, but, but, is it tasteful or classless? If you have children do you want them to see that on your walls? Probably not. Or do they not even get it? Is it something for adult eyes only? Obviously, we're talking about the human body as art. And, I agree, it totally is. Everybody has the same parts, they just look different. But on that note, is one sex more passable to be nude? Because I'm pretty sure my boyfriend would totally let me (aka be way too excited) if I put a naked woman up, but a naked man? I'm not so sure he'd go for that one! But, is the whole thing too risky for the home? Nah, we're all adults here. Too shocking for some adults, even? Can everyone handle it? Let's hope so.
Which brings me to the next topic: guns. Guns as art. Cool and masculine or a little creepy and dangerous? Sending out the wrong idea that you support violence or just a edgy piece of art? Again, if you have kids does it become not ok? I'm SO curious to see what you guys think!! I mean, what does it say about you when there's a huge gun on your wall? This is a good one. Yay or Nay, people? Inappropriate or art? Chime in to this little adult debate! Can you appreciate it someone else's home just not your own? And, for the record, the last Yay or Nay was totally a NAY for me!

Love this question as I have considered it many times! We have three boys 5 and under and I am not comfortable with having nude art up. If it was just me and my hubby probably! As far as the guns I think it's pretty cool, we live in MT so it's kind of a normal thing around here. Well, guns in general not in art. :) I have this canvas in my living room and have gotten mixed reviews from family and friends, yes it's kind of creepy but I LOVE it! http://www.surfaceview.co.uk/shop/print-canvases/canvases/4554/nhm0100-cp-1200x1600-1361438752?ref=listings
ReplyDeleteYay for nudity, nay for guns. I understand the charm of guns for some people, especially antique ones on display, but the thought of something so lethal on my wall is just a bit too much for me and I think, my family.
